The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch: Exposed
One of History Channel's most curious exploratory journalistic shows since "Ancient Aliens," and covering a similar topic.
The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch is now 4 seasons in over on the History Channel, and in the summer heat I’ve caught up on every episode posted so far.
20-some odd years ago the northern Utah 512-acre “ranch” was bought by Robert Bigelow — kind of the Elon Musk of his time, with space contracts involving NASA, the DoD, and other government entities back in the 90s.
When he failed to discover whatever the ranch was ultimately about, he sold it to Brandon Fugal, who is apparently one of Utah’s most successful real estate developers.
Instead of keeping the UFO plagued ranch all to himself, he somehow packaged it into a barebones investigative journalism reality show which was picked up by History Channel, and then renewed all the way into present season 4.
Perhaps weirdest of all, Fugal included Travis Taylor, PhD in the original “cast” of investigators on the ranch — a contractor and college professor with connections to NASA and the DoD dating back decades — and it came out only recently on season 4 that watchers of the show at the US Pentagon were apparently so impressed by Taylor’s research methodology that they quietly recruited him to head up their internal UAP task force.
Understandably, other cast members seemed immediately estranged from him when he revealed that he had been quietly researching this phenomenon also for the Pentagon — leading their research effort simultaneously, in fact — while appearing as a supposedly genuine, wide-eyed curious university researcher on the History Channel reality tv-esque show, which became a surprise Internet sensation by season 2.
The government literally embedded their top credentialed UFO researcher on a popular emergent TV show about a UFO sighting rich area in the American West; that’s one way of looking at recent developments, anyway.
