So Far, Elon Musk Is Winning At Twitter 2.0
The Tesla and SpaceX billionaire's unusual acquisition, and now renovation, of Twitter will be the talk of the Internet for many years to come.
An important point many in the indie media echo chamber avoid is that Elon Musk seems to be winning at herding the cats over on Twitter.
Cat herding, as you may know, is a challenging task.
An early spat with Apple was avoided; Apple even reportedly returned to buying ads on Twitter. Amazon has also resumed its $100 million+ annual ad spend commitment on the social media network.
Yet it is the culture war and the nature of the Internet at stake here, not merely the advertising profits of a now private company.
And in that arena is where Musk has truly shined. The Twitter Files renewed discussion of pandemic era expert abuses, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launching a grand jury investigation into the mRNA manufacturers.
The more open stance toward free speech on Musk’s privatized Twitter Inc has also led to a softening of censorship on rival platforms, it appears.
Our traffic from Facebook and Google has picked up considerably since Musk re-branded Twitter a free speech watering hole. Perhaps out of competitive pressure, other parts of the Internet are opening up their walled gardens a little, too.
And that’s all I’ve ever asked for, is a perch on the sidelines from which to continue observing and analyzing our strange West in its final innings.
Although we didn’t make much fuss about it, my short reports/hot takes on TikTok have been viewed about 11.2 million times this year — 10 million views or so on the first business account, and now about 1.2 million views (in just a month) of the personal account.
And the newsletter continues to grow as a result. Speaking of that, actually, I’m hoping to get our end of year research issue out the door later today. If you don’t yet get it, add your email in the next few hours so you don’t miss it! Thousands get the full research newsletter, amazingly I’ve been doing a newsletter since 2015. How time flies.
I look forward to your Twitter accounts being restored! Hopefully, soon
So glad I am reconnected to you again. I lost you for 5 years but you found me again sending me an email last week. Listening to you changed my life. Being red pilled was dramatic! David Seaman be blessed and believe in the Jewish Messiah 😍
