My UFO sighting
Finally! What a wild bucket list of a week; first Bitcoin hits fresh highs above US $70,000 per coin, and now I've got clear footage of... well...
Those who have been fans of my journalism over the years know that I’ve taken only a de minimis interest in UFOs. It was simply a topic outside my own personal experience, although from watching shows like Ancient Aliens and Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, I’ve been open to the concept — and more broadly, if the galaxy is as vast as science claims, it seems probabilistic other advanced life might be out there, and might take an interest in us as a fledgling advanced species ourselves, dabbling in radio frequency broadcasting and near Earth spacefaring.
The UFO hype of 2021/2022 left me mostly disappointed, although I reported the news cycle accurately — whistleblowers in Congress were claiming a lot of wild stuff, and then it sort of went nowhere, and the Overton window shifted away once again.
Yesterday I saw a UFO/UAP, and unlike many others, I had my iPhone on me and began recording as clearly and reasonably as I could, until the object left our line of sight.
My frustration with many other recent UFO sighting videos is the wild unprofessionalism of the person taking the footage, moving away from the object itself, failing to allow autofocus to work its magic, etc etc etc.
I had my moment yesterday, and I think did admirably.
Shot on an iPhone 15, all the metadata has been preserved (confirming time it was recorded, etc), and I made a point to include various objects as reference — the power lines which were evidently in front of the object, as well as the tree line, and some visible stars.
I consider it a “UFO” in the truest sense: I don’t know what it is, and to me it remains Unidentified.
Not suggesting little green men necessarily.
It’s just not like anything else I’ve ever seen. I’ll leave you all to it — feel free to leave your thoughts & analysis in the comments:
